The Day of Immunology was brought to life by the European Federation of Immunological Societies (EFIS) to promote awareness of immunology as a basis for individual and community health as well as for the fight against infection, autoimmunity and cancer.
RESTORE brings together researchers, clinicians and developers from multiple disciplines to bring fresh therapy options in the form of Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMPs) for the benefit of patients with chronic diseases to the clinic. Such diseases are often linked to immune disorders that are difficult to treat conventionally. That’s why we are so excited that ATMPs, a new class of “living drugs” that comprise gene therapies, somatic-cell therapies and tissue-engineered products, allow us to tackle the root causes of disease: By reshaping undesired immune responses or restoring sufficient immunocompetence. ATMPs could be the key in treating chronic immunological disorders with a long-lasting or even curative effect.
RESTORE strives for accelerating progress in Advanced Therapies and envisions the “Restoration of health” in patients with immunological disorders. “Living drugs”, the medicines of tomorrow, are often based on our increasing knowledge of immunology – so let’s celebrate!
